Dr Sarah SladeI am an experienced optometrist who has been qualified for 20 years. After 10 years of working for a local independent optometrist I am delighted to have the opportunity to own my own business on Dr Hall’s retirement. I am also a part time adviser to NHS England in Greater Manchester and College of Optometrists visiting research fellow at the University of Leeds.
As a newly qualified optometrist I worked with Scrivens opticians in Birmingham. Whilst doing my PhD, which was about the relationship between vision and driving accidents, I supervised final year optometry students as they learnt how to test eyes in the Aton University clinics. I had 2 years as Deputy Head optometrist at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital before moving home to Leeds to become an adviser to Leeds Health Authority and optometrist at St James’ hospital. I joined Keith Bennett Optometrists in 2004. I am married to Paul, we live in Halifax, and have two children. When I have spare time I like to go walking with friends, design and make jewellery and dabble in watercolour and archery. I love optometry, and believe that everyone deserves good eyecare, whatever their social or financial circumstances. I also understand that an eye test can be daunting to some so do my best to make the experience as easy and as enjoyable as possible. I look forward to welcoming you to Eyecare Matters and hope you like what we have to offer. Best Wishes Sarah |
